About . . .
SuZen, a long time student of Buddhism, has been a lifetime NYC artist. Her photography is exhibited in museums and galleries and collected internationally. Always pushing the medium into new dimensions, SuZen’s art has evolved from traditional black and white photography to performance art to multi-media installations in public spaces. In 1984, the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) funded a 40’ x 25’ painted mural of her photograph, “Flowing Light,” which has graced Times Square since then. She is also the recipient of the Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award as well as grants from National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) and the Department of Cultural Affairs. In 2016, celebrating “Visions of Light & Spirit” 50 year retrospective exhibition, she premiered a multi-media installation, “Transmigration” inspired by Buddha’s teachings.
